As many solutions there are to keep your body and face ageless, there are many solutions to keep your brain young as well. I am sure you’ve heard about many ways, but in this article we will talk about not one, but 7 ways to keep your brain young.

1- EXERCISING AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Sure this is one of the best ways to keep your body young, but it has similar effects on the brain. Some research has shown that activating body muscles have tremendous effects on the minds. Regular exercises increase the number of blood vessels that transport oxygen-rich blood to the brain especially to the area where thoughts are produced. Physical activity also leads to development of new nerve cells and enforces the connections between synapses (brain cells). This leads to a better with a better performance.

2- EAT THE RIGHT FOODS

Watching out your diet also helps keep your brain in shape. Start by getting rid of the unhealthy foods such as the processed ones, and the foods containing a lot of colorants and preservatives. Include more fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, unsaturated oils and proteins from plants in your diet, these will prevent any cognitive impairment and dementia.

3- STAY AWAY FROM BAD HABITS

Some bad habits destroy your brain’s health! The two most dangerous habits are of course smoking drinking. Therefore, avoid smoking, and if you are a smoker try to quit as soon as possible. You might also want to avoid being around smokers because this is also called passive smoking. Also make sure that you do not exceed the recommended amount of alcohol per day if you are unable to avoid it completely.

4- PROTECT YOUR HEAD FROM INJURIES

Protect your head to avoid cognitive impairments, because moderate to severe injuries even if they don’t result in concussions, can lead to brain damages.

5- MAINTAIN GOOD EMOTIONS

Negative emotions such as anxiety and exhaustion can make your brain function in a less good way than usual. While these feelings might not lead to negative cognitive progress, but positive feelings of happiness and positive can definitely lead to an improved state.

6- WATCH OUT YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE

While bad emotions do not lead to cognitive impairments, high blood pressure does. Modify your lifestyle and your diet to keep your blood pressure low and healthy. Stay slim, exercise frequently, limit your alcohol intake to two drinks per day, decrease your negative feelings and stress, and eat right (refer to point number 2 in this article).

7- IMPROVE YOUR CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol can have an impact on your brain’s performance as well. A high level of the LDL, also known as the bad cholesterol, is related to an augmented risk of dementia.
