9 BRAIN EXERCISES THAT CAN BOOST YOUR MEMORY

The memory is one of the most important parts of our bodies. Do you know why? Because without it you are a body with no skills, no past, no language, nothing. Therefore, many scientists have spent their years studying this faculty of the brain to understand it even more and try to find ways to keep it healthy. They have found many solutions one of which, is memory exercises to keep it sharp. If you are one of the people who are looking to give their memory a boost than you should definitely try one or all of these exercises.

1- PLAY GAMES THAT ARE GOOD FOR YOUR BRAIN

You have heard that Sudoku helps you focus better. It also helps your memory, alongside games like crossword puzzles and scrabble, because they stimulate your brain and activate your memory.

2- LEARN A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT

It is never too late to start playing a musical instrument. Many studies have shown that learning something new and difficult over long periods of time is beneficial for the mind and memory.

3- BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE

It is the right time to start playing a new sport. Make sure that it involves both your mind and body, for example, tennis, yoga, and golf. Exercises like these, called athletic, will improve your physical fitness while giving a boost to your mental fitness as well.

4- LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE

Register in a foreign language course to help rejuvenate your brain. This will introduce new terms and words to your brain making your memory do extra effort to make a place for them and remember them.

5- BROADEN YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK

Connecting with people is also very helpful for your memory. It exposes you to new ideas shared during conversations and teaches you new ways of thinking and processing information. Start by doing so by traveling more and talking to the locals. Do not afraid if your accent is not perfect!

6- DO NOT USE THE CALCULATOR

When put in front of an equation do not rush to get a calculator to calculate the results, instead try to find the answer by yourself. You can make things harder by trying to do math calculations in your head while working out or walking. So the next time you are at the supermarket, try to calculate the amount of your shopping before you arrive at the counter.

7- GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Your brain needs between 6 and 8 hours of sleep, or at least two full cycles of deep sleep every night to be able to conduct the chemical changes needed to incorporate information learned during the past day and period and the new skills learned, in the long-term memory.

8- PLAY CHESS

Chess is another game that is good for your memory. This one is based on logic which also activates several parts of your brain.

9- TAKE A COOKING CLASS

Learn new recipes and expose your senses to new smells and tastes. This will activate your memory for sure!
