TAKE CARE OF YOUR BRAIN WITH THESE 6 WAYS

The brain is a complex organ of our body but is also the one that has the greatest importance and abilities. It is estimated that the brain has as many neurons as the Milky Way Galaxy has stars. So how do you take care of such a complicated brain? There are many ways that you need to adopt in order to keep your brain untouched and safe from the external dangerous factors, such as putting a helmet or a seatbelt whenever you’re driving a car or a bike. However, there are some extra things you can do that will give it the health it needs to operate perfectly.

1- GET YOUR HEART PUMPING

You already know that physical activity is extra important not only for your body but also for your brain. Therefore, you can exercise to boost the blood flow and well as the flow of many positive nutrients to your brain. This can also increase the level of dopamine generating new brain cells to help you self-regulate and calm down faster. Exercises as simple as walking can clear your mind, give you better moods, lower the possibility of feeling anxious and burn calories.

2- STAY HYDRATED

Your brain is made of 80% water and giving it the possibility of being dehydrated by only 2% has the ability to damage its performance. Tasks that are most affected by dehydration are the ones that require physical performance, memory, and attention. Avoid drinking anything that dehydrates it, such as coffee or alcohol and increase your daily water intake as much as possible.

3- EAT HEALTHILY

Include lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats (for example olive oil) and nuts in your diet so that it is considered nutritional for your brain. It is important to consume between 5 and 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Try to plan your meals before so that you are in control of what you are eating, and that you cook the right recipes.

4- GET QUALITY SLEEP

The quality of your sleep is defined by the number of hours you get nightly. Aim for a minimum of 7 hours of sleep every night to keep your brain functioning at optimal levels. Sleeping less than that can disrupt not only your concentration but also your thinking and memory due to the decrease of blood flow to your brain.

5- BE SOCIALLY ACTIVE

While learning new things is crucial for your brain social connection can be as important if not more. Having good relationships with people you can connect with is helpful to keep your brain active and healthy. Therefore, whenever you cancel a plan with your friends to stay inside and watch movies or play games, think twice.

6- RELAX

Relaxing is important to help you recharge and feel more energetic. Take care of your mental and physical self by giving yourself breaks and relaxing. Allow yourself to have a few hours doing nothing once in a while.
